What changed?
MAS and ACRA publicly launched the VCC framework on 15 January 2020. Eighteen fund managers from the September 2019 pilot programme incorporated or re-domiciled 20 investment funds as VCCs on launch day, spanning venture capital, private equity, hedge fund, and ESG strategies. Incorporation runs through ACRA's dedicated VCC portal.
Why it matters for fund managers
Day-one adoption across both traditional and alternative strategies — open-ended and closed-end — was an immediate demonstration that the structure worked in practice, not just on paper. The launch release remains the canonical primary source for the regime's start date and initial cohort.
